Local Tampa Bay area news outlets report a 10-year-old Valrico boy was struck by a car on this date while waiting for his school bus at a bus stop close to his home. The accident is under investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Officials state that the boy was struck when he chased a ball into the street.
The boy named Christian Gonzalez, is in fourth grade at Valrico Elementary School in Valrico. Little Christian was transported by emergency helicopter to Tampa General Hospital, and remains in serious condition.
The vehicle involved was a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser that was northbound on Valrico Road. The driver, also a Valrico resident immediately stopped and remained at the scene.
