Bradenton Auto Accident Lawyer | Long Awaited Traffic Light at Intersection Soon to be Installed

A deadly intersection in Bradenton will finally have a traffic signal by mid-February according to Tom Fass, head of projects management for the county Public Works department in a recent article on TampaBay.com .

Housing complexes sit on every corner of the intersection of Providence Lakes Blvd. and Gornto Lake Rd. Until now, this busy intersection has only had stop signs to regulate the flow of traffic. Sheila Creel, 46, was tragically killed at this intersection two years ago. The year Creel died, approximately 6,500 vehicles a day traveled on Providence lakes Blvd. and about 11,000 used Gornto Lake Rd.

David Perrera, Tampa, reports his wife, Arleen, ran into the side of a truck at this expansive intersection. The crash crushed her leg and he states, even following reconstructive surgery, she struggles to walk. She was injured the week before Creel died. Perrera questions why it has taken so long for a traffic light to be installed.

In the past three years, more than 70 crashes have been reported at this site, some involving incapacitating injuries. A January 2006 study decided the intersection met the criteria for a traffic signal. Later that year a developer began the design work. Unfortunately, by September of 2007, lawyers and county officials decided the developer was not required to pay for the $400,000. Apparently, these issues have been resolved, and a safer intersection is in the not too distant future.
